MMA Update -- Liberty Completes MC Insurance Refunds...
Massachusetts Motorcycle Association, PO Box 378, Brimfield, MA 01010-0378
29 March 2010
The Massachusetts Motorcycle Association is pleased to report to its membership that Liberty Mutual Insurance has completed issuance of all refund checks due to Motorcyclists under the terms of the settlement reached with the MA Attorney General’s Office. The last of the checks was mailed on Friday, March 26th.
To date, the MMA has received reports from hundreds of riders. Reports from some of those indicate that they’ve received refunds as small as $20 to as large as $1700!
Additionally, the AGO continues to make progress with the other Insurance Carriers who’ve settled with their office. Refunds from the other carriers remain in varying states of analysis which will take some time, but expectations are that one of the carriers will begin issuing refunds within the next month.
The AGO has established a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) page on their website, but continues to encourage riders to use the MMA as a clearinghouse for questions and data collection.
The agreements reached with the current 7 Insurance Companies require that the settlement monies are sent to all insured motorcyclists who carried comprehensive and/or collision. In order to assure that we reach all affected motorcyclists, they are encouraged to contact MyRefund@MassMotorcycle.org via email or USPS (to the MMA address above) with their name, address (include prior address if changed during the duration of the policy), insurance carrier(s), policy numbers, current phone numbers and email address.
