** MOTORCYCLE
SAFETY FUND ** SHORT NOTICE ** CALL TO ACTION **
The Massachusetts Motorcycle Association (MMA) alerts riders that
Senate Bill 1365 (S.1365), An Act to establish a Motorcycle Safety Fund, is
scheduled for Public Hearings on Tuesday September 10, 2013 at 10:30AM in Room
B-2 at the State House in Boston, MA.
Annually, motorcyclists register their motorcycles and pay a $2.00
fee, designated by Law to be used solely for the purpose of promoting and
advancing motorcycle safety (M.G.L. CH90, SECTION 34). Yet, over
the last 13 years, only 66% of the funds collected have been
used for these motorcycle safety initiatives. These missing funds
total $1,424,076: funds taken only from motorcyclists registering their
motorcycles in Massachusetts.
REPEAT: $1,424,076 has been taken ONLY from motorcyclists in
Massachusetts and is still missing.
Riders are asked to contact their State Representative and State
Senator and request immediate support for Senate Bill 1365, which seeks a
dedicated Motorcycle Safety Fund and accountability regarding expenses and
disbursements from this fund. Find your legislators here https://malegislature.gov/ and
be sure they request a Favorable, Ought to Pass recommendation.
