MMA 2014 Elections, Annual Meeting, and Legislative Planning Meeting

The Massachusetts Motorcycle Association (MMA) would like to invite all members in good standing to the MMA's Monthly Board-of-Directors Meeting to be held on Wednesday, October 1, 2014. This meeting is also the organization's Annual Meeting, which will be held at The Rose Garden Restaurant, 16 Milford Street, Upton, MA, starting at 7:30 PM sharp. The purpose of the Annual Meeting is to elect MMA members to board positions that are either vacant or the incumbent’s term has expired. The following board positions are up for election this year: Chairman, Legislative Director, District I Manager, and District IV Manager; each of these positions is a 3-year term of office. Also up for election is the MRF State Representative, which is an annually elected position.

The positions listed are all elected by the current sitting board members, but are open to any interested member. The eligibility requirements for these positions require that you are a current member in good standing with the MMA, and that you have been a member in good standing for at least one year. The District Manager positions have a further requirement of residing within the respective district in which you would be the manager.

Anyone interested in any of these positions please submit a short note of your intention to run and a brief resume to Doc D’Errico, Vice Chairman, no later than Midnight September 30, 2014, via e-mail to ViceChair@MassMotorcycle.org. Also, you MUST be present at the October meeting to accept the nomination, give a brief statement as to why you are seeking this position, and to answer any questions board members may have.

Please note that each District will be conducting a meeting in their respective districts during the month of October. The purpose of these meetings will be to elect a District Representative for each district. These positions are elected by the District Membership to a one year term of office to the Board-of-Directors. The eligibility is the same as for the District Managers as stated above.  Anyone interested in a District Representative Position should contact their District Manager, or Doc D’Errico, Vice Chairman.

We are often asked how and who makes up the MMA Legislative Agenda. YOU DO! The MMA Biennial Legislative Agenda Planning Session will be held on Saturday October 25th at the Holiday Inn Hotel & Suites in Marlboro, MA. Beginning with a MMA Board Meeting at 10 AM, followed by a lunch to all in attendance at noon, the Legislative Planning session will begin at 1 PM and discuss the MMA’s planned activities for the 2015-2016 Massachusetts General Court; this is YOUR opportunity to have your voice heard and participate in the planning process! Although the Board Meeting is only open to MMA Members (you can join online or at the meeting!), the Legislative Planning Session is open to all interested parties.
