MMA Information Update – Safety Insurance Begins Refund Process  
The Massachusetts Motorcycle Association (MMA) announced to its membership today that Safety Insurance Company (Safety) has begun the process of mailing letters to those due motorcycle insurance refunds.   More >>

MMA Legislative Update-Motorcycle Junior Operator Training Bill Signed  
The Massachusetts Motorcycle Association (MMA) announces that Senate Bill 2344, dubbed Ryan’s Bill, an “Act relative to assuring that motorcyclists between the ages of 16 and 18 are provided with adequate education relative to the proper safety and operation of a motorcycle.” has been signed into law by Governor Deval Patrick.   More >> 

MMA Successful in Providing Motorcycle Parking in Boston 
The Massachusetts Motorcycle Association (MMA) is pleased to announce that on Thursday, July 29th a “ribbon-cutting” ceremony was held on Boylston Street in Boston celebrating the creation of the first ever on-street parking spaces specifically for motorcycles and scooters in the City of Boston.   More >>

MMA Brian Clark Memorial Run
Brian Clark was a long-time member, and one of the longest serving members of the MMA's Board of Directors until his sudden death this past October. Tomorrow (Saturday, July 24, 2010) Members of the Massachusetts Motorcycle Association, friends, and relatives will gather in Granby, Massachusetts to attend the First Annual Brian Clark Memorial Run.   More >>

Lynnfield asked to Cease Harassment of Motorcyclists  
As reported by the Massachusetts Motorcycle Association (MMA) to its membership in April, the Town of Lynnfield voted down an annual Warrant concerning Motorcycle Sound Emissions based largely on the vigilance of its members in attendance. Unfortunately, the Lynnfield Police Department has been stopping and writing citations for Motorcycles verbally stating language used in the Warrant.   More >>

The Board of Directors of the Massachusetts Motorcycle Association (MMA) is pleased to announce that the lucky winner for this year's raffle bike is Steve Winchell of Westborough, Massachusetts. MMA Safety & Education Update - ERC Program Expanded 
In March, the Massachusetts Motorcycle Association offered a discounted program for the MSF Experienced Rider Course through our Gold Card Member training sites. The courses, held in June, sold out quickly and the feedback has been extremely positive! To facilitate the demand, we’re adding another planned weekend of discounted courses targeted directly to the MMA Membership.   More >>

The Massachusetts Motorcycle Association (MMA) has been hard at work fighting Noise Ordinances in various cities and towns throughout the Commonwealth and is actively engaged in a campaign to help stem the tide. AGO Rejects Falmouth Town Warrant regarding Motorcycle Sound Enforcement 
The Massachusetts Motorcycle Association is pleased to announce to its membership that the Massachusetts Attorney General’s Office has denied the recent Town of Falmouth Noise Ordinance concerning increasing penalties pertaining to sound emissions from Motorcycles.   More >>  
 
Quincy Mutual Issues Refund Checks 
The Massachusetts Motorcycle Association (MMA) announced to its membership today that Quincy Mutual Fire Insurance Company (“Quincy”) has joined Liberty Mutual as the first carriers to have completed the process of issuing refund checks to its current and past customers under a settlement reached with the Massachusetts Attorney General’s Office.   More >>

Lynnfield EPA Bylaw defeated! 
The Massachusetts Motorcycle Association (MMA) was alerted to a town warrant to be heard Monday, April 26th in the Town of Lynnfield which would create a $300 fine for Motorcycle Exhaust not bearing an EPA stamp. With the support of MMA Members in the town leveraging MMA testimony as well as their own, the Town voted to defeat “Article 17” voting instead on what’s right and fair towards all.   More >> 
 

 

 

 

MMA Call to Action - Prevent a federal helmet law! 
The MMA has learned through the American Motorcycle Association, that on 2 recent occasions, specific mention of a National Helmet Law was brought to the table. The MMA supports the AMA’s position that riders should be educated on the risks and should be free to choose whether or not to wear a helmet, not be mandated by legislation to do so.   More >>

Boston Riders' Lawsuit Dismissed regarding EPA stamp  

As reported by the Massachusetts Motorcycle Association to its membership last July, a small group of independent motorcycle advocates joined together to file suit against the city of Boston with regard to the Boston EPA Ordinance Unfortunately, the group learned this week that their longstanding suit has been dismissed.   More >>

MMA Update – All Citations Dismissed in Sterling anti-Motorcycle Checkpoints!

The Massachusetts Motorcycle Association, working in conjunction with MMA Gold Card Member, Attorney Paul Lancia, and several Motorcyclists who’ve chosen to fight for their rights and yours following citations issued in the town of Sterling last summer, went to court and won a number of cases pertaining to those citations. Yesterday, the remainder of the cases were scheduled to be heard, and ALL cases have now been found “not responsible”.   More >>

 

MMA Members win fight for their rights and yours in Sterling

The Massachusetts Motorcycle Association (MMA) reported to its membership that “Motorcycle Only” checkpoints were initiated in the small Town of Sterling, MA last July 15th stopping any and all Motorcycles without probable cause for “safety checks”. Resulting in numerous citations issued for a range of violations, 4 more riders went before a MA District Court Judge and were found “Not Responsible” for all 6 charges.   More >>

 

MMA UPDATE - New Hampshire Anti-Motorcycle Bills Successfully Defeated

The Massachusetts Motorcycle Association (MMA) was in attendance to represent the Motorcyclists of Massachusetts at the New Hampshire State House on January 28th in opposition to HB 1162 & HB 1261 which would have respectively required all riders to wear helmets and all motorcycles to have EPA-stamped exhaust systems. The MMA is pleased to report that the NH House voted to defeat both bills.   More >> 

MMA UPDATE - New Hampshire Anti-Motorcycle Bills  

 

The NH House met on Wednesday, February 10th to vote on HB 1261 – concerning Motorcycle Sound Emissions. The vote was 267 to 28 in opposition of the bill, effectively killing it for this Legislative Session.   More >>

One Hundred-Fifty Rally with the MMA to Support Sterling Freedom Fighters

On Saturday November 7, 2009, approximately one hundred and fifty brothers and sisters converged on the Route 140 Rendezvous Pub in Sterling, MA to support the MMA Freedom Fighters -- riders stopped in July at a motorcycle-only hazardous “safety” checkpoint a few miles down the road from the Pub.
